: I need to get some information for my son. He is 10 years old and is currently in a firestoppers program in our area. He has homework which requires him to find an article on Home Fires to include info, how it happened, who started it, why they did it, estimated damage, and any injuries occured to occupants and/ or firefighters. I would greatly appreciate any leads you might have!!! Thank you!

Nicole, I use the same assignment in my program. I encourage them to contact by e-mail the reporter who has the byline, tell them that they are doing an assignment, and see if the repoprter can fill in any needed gaps. So far the cooperation has been great. To be fair to the kids, I try to read all the local paper's fire reports and accept the report if it contains what is in the article. Also I assign the kids to do the same thing on the internet, since our local kids have access through both their schools and librarys. I hope this helps
