: Hi, I'm the only therapist in my area that is willing to work with firesetters, that I know of, and I am looking for a more comprehensive treatment program. Can anyone point me to one that they are using or do you have one you are willing to share.

: Thank you, Kyle Lassiter

Kyle,
The Fort Wayne Fire Department has a strong working relationship with a number of agencies (juvenile probation, mental health, police, etc.) that are members of our local JFS Taskforce. The majority of our JFS interventions are conducted jointly with a firefighter & a mental health counselor. This approach ensures not only all the fire safety concerns are addressed, but also any other personal/family issues that are common with firesetters are discussed. After this initial intervention we can then recommend further family counseling if neccessary. We have been using this joint format the last few years & have been very pleased with the results. The main counseling agengy, Crossroad, we work with has a very good JFS Program they have developed for juveniles that need more than one intervention. If you would like more specific info, please e-mail me or feel free to call my office at 260-427-1278.
Thanks!
Dave Meadows
